Don't you love the internet?

like a kaleidoscope

I'll probably re-edit this as I am a little pressed for time. But whatever. ANYWHO...

The internet is an information super-highway. We've all heard this. In particular, with regards to me especially, I find that if people spent enough time on it (in particular; blogs, fb, twitter), they could find out alot about people. And while this may sound stalkerish, there is nothing at the moment which stops randoms from doing this.

But I digress. My point for this textpost is changing perceptions. I know that I may have alot of facebook friends and maybe I don't really communicate with alot of them. Lots of good friends, or people I thought were good friends. I don't think that that's a problem. Some time in the future, maybe I'll reconnect with them; maybe I'll talk to them again and be pleasantly surprised at how they turned out. I already have been =)

(actually this led me to wonder, as we are kind of like 'inheritors' of the digital age, by the time we're 40 or so, will we have upwards of 1000+ facebook friends? I mean, I don't know many people who delete friends....so....)

But with current friends, or so-called, there's...differences. When you go online, see what they've said (and yes, this is very stalkerish. I don't deny it. It just appears!) or done, you think about them differently. There's alot of stuff that people maybe aren't supposed to know, but the interconnected nature of the internet and the rapidity with which things can spread has changed how this works. (I probably should have written the other 'friends' post I was going to, but that requires more effort than this, so you'll have to wait for that XDD) People find things out. And although I love saying in a general sense that people are stupid, there are people that aren't. They don't like it happening, and this can change certain behaviours towards them.

Its like a Chinese whisper, except in this case, you're always third in line...getting secondhand information about 'the purple elephant eating the green peanuts' (yes, I've had that in one game xD it was quite random) And then you keep that information to yourself, but see things a whole lot differently.

Let's all be kind, neh?

I'm not stupid (hopefully). I know how people treat me, and I know how I treat others. Maybe sometimes I do things I probably shouldn't do or say things I probably shouldn't say, but I change. I can change. Observing is a little habit of mine, and seeing myself from different points of view is a good one. It helps self-improve. Some people, however, can't do it. They can't pick up on body language, on different changes in emotion, in speech, that signal a grey area. Some people are oblivious to how they act towards people, or maybe they are conscious and are just being fake. I dislike that.

Then again, on a more positive note, sometimes you see things that change your perception of people in a good way. Maybe you see them in a light you wouldn't have seen them in previously. Some sort of unappreciated kindness or maybe something as simple as seeing a different side of them. It just happens. ^^
