mhs formal

'The studious boys of selective secondary college Melbourne High School have become the envy of teens across the world this weekend after pop star Katy Perry crashed their school formal at the Grand Hyatt at around 11pm Friday night.'

-The Age, 15th August

Formal was the most amazing event I've been to in my school life. And not just because Katy Perry crashed our formal (which in itself was amazing), but because the night itself was fantastic. Even if she didn't come, I still would have had the best fun I've had for a while.

Pre's at alex's were really good...seeing us with our dates reminds me that not 4 years ago, we were just little kids in year 9, full of expectations and dreams. And now, a formal, where we're (mostly) all grown up =) Everyone turned up looking quite awesome, and my gorgeous date Mackie turned up and surprised me with a formal present! It is the best thing I've received for a while =)

Turning up to the formal and seeing all these people that are usually a. in school uniform or b. lurking in places at school that I've never been, it was very exciting. The ice sculpture was something I expected (as I did stalk all the formal photos from last year), but the whole atmosphere was amazing. A big shoutout to the SRC who really pushed the boat out for this. I reckon it was a good $115 spent. The pro photos, the whole scene, the nicely dressed up people...sometimes words can't really express the feelings you want to put across.

My date, and super friend, Mackie won best dressed...she was stressing over this formal for a few weeks, and I'm so happy and proud she was repaid in such an awesome way =)

The photos don't capture the atmosphere of it all, but I do remember having a smile plastered across my face for a lot of the night. The professional photos (hopefully) will be bloody awesome when we get to see them, and I'm sure I'm going to buy many =) Taking the 9K photo was nearly my favourite, as we could see how much we'd grown up. Such good memories from 9K...even if I was the butt of the jokes (only 9K people will get that double meaning =D). Obviously my favourite was Mackie and I's couple photo, after she'd won the 'Best Dressed Female' award. She's an amazing person, and one of my best friends.

The afterparty showed me how close-knit we were...being a little drunk and all. Support comes from unexpected quarters sometimes...and that's nice =) But I hate the emo-ness that comes from it. Fortunately, the TP crew is very close, and dnm's are always there to help. Thanks to those guys and girls. They are amazing :)

Overall it was a great night, and I'm definitely going to cherish the memory of the MHS formal 2010.

PS: I love how newspapers think because we go to MHS that we are studious
